Lightnin’ Hopkins Blues in E – “Three Times Lightnin’” – TAB available
Instrumental in the style of Lightnin’ Hopkins.
I recorded the same instrumental three times on different guitars :
1- Gréven LOOv, a copy of a 1934 Gibson L00
mahogany and ladderbraced
2 week old D’Addario strings, no thumbpick
2- 1920ies Supertone
probably birch and ladderbraced
These guitars, although cheap in their days, were handmade by Italian
craftsmen for Sears and Roebuck
Old strings and thumbpick
3- Daddy-Mojo cigar box guitar (Stovepipe model – really, I had nothing to do with it ![]()
This is how Lightnin’ sounded in the late 40ies, a raw electric sound
