You have missed the … You have missed the point. It's to show that you can use alternate chords and is for beginners. If you are so way advanced and this is a bore for you, then ok… why bother to say it? Just makes you look arrogant and/or stupid that you didn't get it. You can bet that this guy is a great guitarist and is simply trying to help some beginners get started.

either way he aint really playing "notes" per say. chords yes. theyre all 9th chords im pretty sure, and i think in this case the root notes are c, then d (c9 then d9)
